We are a Rights Respecting School

Armadale Primary School is working towards the UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools Award Level 2.  “Rights Respecting Schools” is a UK wide initiative to educate pupils and parents in the various articles that have been identified by the “United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child” (UNCRC). The convention has 54 articles in total. These cover the right to education, clean water, nutritious food and the right to play, amongst others.

As part of this programme a Steering Group has been formed with representative from each class, a Parent Council member, staff and members of the community involved with the school. Their job is to make sure we are making progress and to inform everyone connected with Armadale Primary School about “Rights Respecting Schools” activities.

Class Charters

All pupils have a growing awareness the Articles and have written their Class Charters with these in mind.

There are some recent examples included in the gallery below.

Last term we thought about our playground charter. The steering group ran a competition to design a mascot to draw attention to the charter.

This is now displayed at key points near the playground.
